The conference "Migration in European Football. Transnational networks - national identity politics" took place from 11 to 12 April 2008 at the University of Vienna. The conference aimed at putting findings of the project “Migration in Austrian football after 1945” into a European perspective. Theories of migration- and anti-discrimination-studies, cultural studies and political science were linked with football history, studies on the European players’ market and research on racism and (media-) discourse on foreign players and were discussed with the football community and experts from England, France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
The conference was organised in cooperation with FairPlay-vidc and was funded by the FWF and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights.
The conference team was supported by Mag.a Elisabeth Kotvojs (FairPlay-vidc) in the administration and organisation.
